Pretty Please #17

With a holiday to save up for, spending money on clothes is something I'm having to stop myself from doing, but why is it that I always find countless things I want when I'm on a spending ban?

B. Groomed Eyebrow Kit Brown 52

I can't believe I haven't blogged about this product already. I've had it since mid December and use it everyday. The B Groomed Eyebrow Kit boasts an eyebrow pencil, wax and eyebrow brush, a handy little addition to your make-up bag. B. is the new make-up range from Superdrug, I was particularly interested in trying out the products due to them all being Vegan friendly. At £4.19 it's mid-range in price for a drugstore brand. I previously used Rimmel's eyebrow pencil which is £2.99, however I am more than happy to pay the extra for B. due to it being cruelty free. The pencil isn't too thick and goes on smoothly. I use it to create a line at the bottom of my brow and then blend that upwards using a angled brush, into my eyebrow. I use an eyeshadow palette to fill in the rest of my brows, creating a natural, but defined look. The wax is really handy, as it helps keep my eyebrow hair in place and the brush is useful to brush my brows into shape before filling them in. I'm really happy with this product and will be repurchasing it in the future. It's currently on sale for just £2.79!

Week In Pictures #4: How many nights do you lie dreaming?

This week was my first week back at university and somehow I managed three early starts, something I am not at all used to. From the sounds of them, my new units aren't all that bad and I think I'll actually quite enjoy them. I've been in Southampton for three weeks now, but it feels like so much longer.
Eleven days and I'll be back home for my sisters birthday!
1. FOTD. 2. Simple OOTD. 3. New wall hanging making my room cosy.
4. Late Breakfast. 5. Currently one of my favourite albums. 6. Saturday night tea and Harry Potter.

elf Matte Lip Colour: Coral

I recently blogged about Elf Matte Lip Colour: Tea Rose and basically explained how much I loved it. Well I also got the Matte Lipstick in 'Coral' and I love it just as much. It has become my 'go to' lipstick, as it's perfect for day to day wear. I often find with matte lipsticks that they can be very dry and difficult to apply well, however this lipstick feels moisturising and even with cracked lips (thanks cold weather) it still looks good and does a great job of disguising the imperfections. I much prefer the matte look to the glossy look and I'm so tempted to buy this product in 'Natural' and 'Praline'.  I'm just waiting for their next sale!

So many books, so little time

It's safe to say I never used to be a fan of reading books. Apart from reading Jacqueline Wilson's books when I was in Primary school, I didn't read much else. It wasn't until the summer of 2012 when I decided to read the Harry Potter series, that I discovered that I actually quite like reading. I now tend to read on long car or train journeys, which aren't uncommon due to travelling to and from Southampton for University, or of a night when there isn't much on the TV and I haven't got any work due in. Last year I came across a few authors that I really like. My sister and mother had a few books lying around and I ended up reading them on holiday over the summer. The books in question aren't particularly happy and cheerful in terms of their topic, but they are all so interesting and I found it hard to put the books down. My mother bought me another book by Cathy Glass for Christmas and I spotted a Susan Lewis and three Lesley Pearse books in a charity shop the other day and had to get them. I can't wait to read them all, but I'm currently in the middle of reading Morrisseys autobiography (which is pretty great as well by the way!)

Have you read any of these? Who are your favourite authors?

Week In Pictures #3: We all want something beautiful

This week one of my other housemates was finally back after the Christmas break, so the house felt less empty, we went out on Wednesday and I spent Thursday nursing a hangover and then deciding to drink again that night...Faye and I went charity shop shopping yesterday on the search for things to make the house a bit more homely, but I ended up going home with four books instead. I start back at University tomorrow, which I'm both looking forward to and dreading.

1. Cute collar. 2. Night out selfie. 3. Me and the girls
4. Photo wardrobe complete. 5.  Charity shop book bargains (99p each!) 6. Sunny Southampton.

Pretty Please #16

None of these items are really appropriate for the weather in the UK right now, but I can't help myself. I can't wait to be able to go out without having to wear several layers. Summer, hurry up!

January's The Vegan Kind Monthly Subscription Box

After receiving my first box from The Vegan Kind in December and being more than happy with it, I decided to continue my subscription. I was excited for it to be delivered this month to see what was inside and I wasn't disappointed.

The first thing I tried was the Pulsin beond bar, which is 100% organic and 1 of your 5 a day. I really enjoyed this and would definitely buy them regularly if they were available in local stores.

These Chocolate covered Pumpkin seeds from Landgarten were my favourite items from the box this month. I'm upset that I ate them so quickly, but I couldn't help myself. At £1.79 they are more than I would usually pay for a snack, but fine once in a while as a treat .

This came a close second as my favourite item. The truffle bar from Considerit Chocolate is available in 8 different flavours including Mint, Cinnamon and Coconut. At £1.90 it may seem expensive for a small bar, but it is definitely an indulgent treat.

Thee Pear Crisps from Perry Court Farm were a lot nicer than I was expecting, as I'm not much of a fan of pear. They were a mix of crunchy and chewy and only 69 calories a pack. They're the perfect healthy snack.

The Premae Skincare hand and foot creme was included in the box at a great time, considering the bitter cold and wind we're having not being good for anyones skin. The tub is very small in size, which I was a bit curious about, however only a small amount of the cream is needed at a time. There is a nice, subtle smell and it doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy.
I've never tried, nor even heard of Daikon before now, so I'm not really sure what to expect, but I plan on trying it out soon enough.

The Vegan Kind box is a great way to try new products that you may not hear of otherwise and for me that's important as I'm now only buying cruelty free products, so this helps me become aware of  more vegan brands. The box is £10 a month plus £2.95 p&p, with the products guaranteed to be worth £10 or over.

You can find The Vegan Kind on FacebookInstagramTwitter and Youtube.

Week In Pictures #2: We act alone, we act on impulse

This week has been a fairly quite week. I got back to Southampton on Sunday afternoon, handed my  work in a little early and as my housemates have been busy with work, not much else has gone on. I'm hoping this week will be an improvement. I have a few plans already, so it's looking promising.

1. Sunday Lunch with my family. 2. Opalite ear plug. 3. Zeitgeist.
4. Second box from The Vegan Kind. 5. Cinnamon Yankee Candle. 6. Resolutions list in my diary.

ASOS Stone Set Bezel Boyfriend Watch

In 2012 I bought myself a watch from ASOS and as I explained here, designer brand watches are out of my price range, so in the run up to Christmas last year I went on the hunt for another bargain. My old watch had become discoloured, which was expected so I wasn't fussed and I knew I'd be able to find one pretty similar to it. I browsed the usual high-street stores websites, but ended up back on the ASOS website, where I found this one. At £25 it was a definite bargain. I love the large face which is surrounded by gems and the chunky strap. I had to have three links taken out, as I have fairly thin wrists, but now it fits perfectly. I'd definitely recommend having a look on ASOS if ever you're looking for an affordable watch. I've been completely happy with both which I've bought from there.

elf Studio Matte Lip: Tea Rose

Another one of my elf gifts for Christmas was the Studio Matte Lip Colour in 'Tea Rose'. Online it appears to be a light, subtle pink colour. Pink or nude are the only colours I wear on my lips and this one looked perfect. I really like the design of product, the black colour is minimal, the pencil like size looks sleek and along with the twist up applicator it makes it really easy to apply. The colour isn't quite what I was expecting, it's a lot darker than it appears online, as it's more of a pinky purple colour. I actually still really like the colour and I'm not one for wearing dark lipsticks - yes I consider this dark. I love the matte finish to it and think it would be perfect for both day and night wear.

Week In Pictures #1: Stop bleeding, start breathing

This week was my last week in Birmingham, I'm off to Southampton today! I'm writing this instead of packing and it's 12:30am, so probably not my wisest decision. I've really enjoyed the Christmas break, catching up with friends and seeing family, but I'm definitely ready to go back to Southampton and catch up with friends there (just pretending there is no uni work involved).
1. Sunday walk through Sutton Park. 2. Wall art. 3. New Years Eve selfie.
4. Could live off Avocado. 5. Night out outfit. 6. Vegan sour jelly sweets.

e.l.f Lash Extending Mascara

Left: Natural / Right: With Mascara

One of my Christmas presents have a small haul of e.l.f. products. I spotted a 40% off offer a few weeks before Christmas, informed my mother about it and ordered over £20 worth of make up for just over £10. Pretty chuffed. Over the next few weeks I'll be reviewing each of these products and the first one I want to write about is e.l.f's Lash Extending Mascara. I'm not usually that bothered about mascara, as I tend to wear false eyelashes anyway, but I was thoroughly impressed with this one. First of all, at just £3.75 it is much cheaper than many drug store brands. It's design is very minimal and sleek, which I prefer to brightly coloured and bulky designs. As you can see from the image above, it definitely lengthens lashes and I found that it doesn't really clump, giving a very natural look. I haven't experienced the mascara flaking off, nor smudging, yet it's easy to remove with a bit of cleanser and a cotton wool pad. The only con with this product is that it doesn't thicken lashes much, but overall I'm really impressed with this mascara and would purchase it again.

Happy New Year

Happy new year!
I hope you all had a wonderful night last night and that your hangover wasn't too bad (mine however was horrendous). I just want to say, thank you too everyone who follows me, I really do appreciate it.
Hope you all have a great year! X
