Week In Pictures #39: So look up look up when the sky is falling

My first week back in Southampton has been so good. All the girls are now moved into the house and we've spent the week having nights out and lazy days. Part of me in actually looking forward to going back to uni as well, but I know as soon as an essay in mentioned I'll be gutted.
1. Watching the All Ireland final. 2. Forever buying things just because they look cute. 3. Night out
4. Presents from America. 5. First cake in the new house. 6. Ice cream with the girls.

Calvin Klein Delicious Truth Lipstick 'Contrast' Review

I can safely say I have become a huge fan of Calvin Klein lipsticks lately and when my student loan is in, a few more will be bought. My most recently bought CK lipstick is this one, Delicious Truth Lipstick in 'Contrast', which is a lovely pink colour. First of all, I love the style of the lipstick tube, it's thinner than most lipsticks, so perfect to fit into a little make up bag. The lipstick is more glossy looking than I would usually go for, but I think because of it's glossy finish it would be a great lipstick to wear on a night out, but it's still wearable during the day. When I've wore it, it has lasted between 4-6 hours before needing to be reapplied, which is pretty good going in my opinion. With just 1.5g of lipstick, it's not going to last a very long time, but when I only paid £1.99 for it from Fragrance Direct, I can't complain at all!

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder - Rose Ivory

Left - Without Powder. Right - With Powder
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder - Rose Ivory
When I first started using this product, I wasn't overly happy with it. I felt as though the coverage was just a bit too light for my skin, leaving me with slight shine to my skin, which I don't like. Not the best first impression for a product called 'Matte powder'. However, I continued using it, too see if my opinion changed at all and I can gladly say it did. As you can see from the above picture of my before and after using the powder, it dramatically decreases the amount of shine on my face. In terms of the design of the packaging, I think it's quite cute and a great idea to have a mirror attached, as it comes in handy. It's available from Fragrance Direct for £2.99, which is a great price when its RRP is £6.50. Although I did learn to work with it, I find that my powder brush is unable to pick up more that a very small amount of powder at a time meaning application takes longer that with other powders I've used and because of this, I'd probably not purchase it again.

Pretty Please #12

Apart from the freezing temperatures, I love Autumn, especially because it means I get to wear jumpers, jeans and my parka coat that I adore. What's set to make this Autumn even better is the comeback of tartan. Typically 'punk', tartan has been in and out of fashion for years and I'm chuffed it's back, because the high street stores are full of gorgeous pieces. I definitely need to get myself some of these items, I adore the skirt and the crop top is so cute.

Ireland Part 2 - Cows, Knock and more Cows

One thing I was stupidly excited abut going to Ireland for was seeing Cows. For the whole journey to the house, I kept pointing out when I saw a particularly cute cow and as you can imagine, in Ireland there was a lot. My brother told me it was like driving with a child in the car because of how excited I got. Well the day after we arrived, my sister, Craig and I went on a walk up the lane in search of cows. Of course, it didn't take very long to find any.

I can understand why people are wary of Cows, considering how big they can get, but they're so calm when just grazing in fields. I'm pretty sure I spent everyday of the holiday asking my mother if I could get a calf as a pet.

On our third day there, we decided to visit Knock Shrine/Museum.

In 1879, six people, varying in age claimed to witnessed a vision of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Knock Shrine has since become a place of pilgrimage and prayer, with over one million people visiting each year. I wanted to get photographs of the grounds, because they are beautiful and perfectly kept, unfortunately the heavens opened (excuse the pun) and we ran inside to the museum to escape it.

Knock has been described by many of 'the Lourdes of Ireland', with reported healing occurring.

The museum displayed many original items from the late 1800s - early 1900s such as women's make-up items, blacksmiths tools and even had a set up of a typical house of the time. It was incredible to think that a whole family could live in a space like this, with just one bedroom on the side of the house.

The museum was such an interesting place to visit and the grounds really were beautiful. Despite the fact I'm not Catholic, I was still able to understand and appreciate the shrine in my own way. I would suggest that people not be put off places like this because they don't entirely match their views/religion etc, I find it can still be interesting and it extends knowledge if not anything else.

To end this post of a little less serious point, in Ireland it's quite common for animals to escape every so often from their fields. We woke up to a bull in our garden a few years ago, we've had a flock of sheep and a small herd of cows etc in there as well over the years. It's just what happens over there and this year was no different. During a walk up the lane, we came across this cutie.

She had walked out of the field on the right in the photograph, my mother got slightly worried, but all the Cow did was sit there for five minutes and then walk straight back into the field to rejoin her herd.

As ready as I was to come home, writing these posts is making me want to be back there!

Tartan and Denim

Crop top - Miss Selfridge / Shorts - Primark / Shirt - Missguided / Watch - ASOS

I haven't done an outfit post in what feels like forever! It's a mixture of my camera never being charged properly and not having bought clothes in ages, however I went shopping earlier this week. and picked up a few items. My crop top is from Miss Selfridge, from the sale. It has a cute, subtle polka dot print, that unfortunately is a bit too subtle to be seen in the photographs. The top was originally £24, but reduced to £7. That's what I love about this time of year, summer clothes are on sale to make way for the A/W clothing, so I can snap things up for half price or more, because I still wear summer clothes all year round, I just add tights and jackets to make them suitable.  I've been needing to buy some denim shorts for a few months now and got these from Primark for £10.  My shirt is one I got last Xmas from Missguided, I love it and it's great because it's on trend due to the tartan print being in for A/W. Overall a very simple outfit, but perfect for the weather at the moment.

Bookcase 'Tour'

I recently decorated my room and got a new bookcase as well. I was in desperate need of one as I have so much stuff! I thought I'd do a little post about what I have on it as I personally like reading other bloggers post about how they organise their bedroom and such.

I have so much more jewellery than this, I'm still trying to figure out where to keep it, my long necklaces are currently cluttering my windowsill, but I keep my smaller necklaces and bracelets on my little jewellery stand. I love glass jars, hence why I've got four of them. They store my brushes, earrings, bracelets, earrings and bobbles and grips.

I couldn't fit my eyelashes into my toiletry box so they're having to stay on display for now, along with my sunglasses, perfumes (Cerruti, Vera Wang and Versace), my sugar skull incense holder that I got when I went on holiday to Wales last year and love, crystals/gemstones and my hello kitty alarm clock.
I think crystals and gemstones are gorgeous, the few I have I've collected over the years randomly and I really want to get some more.
I'm a massive Harry Potter fan, so I've got all the books out and I will get round to reading them again one day. As well as them I have a few by John Green who is a brilliant author and I highly recommend and Johnny Cash's Autobiography. My DVD collection is small yet quite a mix, ranging from Beauty and the Beast to Saw II.

I have so many things and I like to keep everything pretty organised and tidy, so I have a box each for my toiletries, nail varnishes and make up and then just keep out the items I use on a daily basis, those being my cleanser, toner, moisturiser, cotton wool and vitamin tablets.

Like any fashion student should, I have a collection of magazines. Vogue, Elle, Company and Glamour are my monthly reads. I did used to get Cosmopolitan as well, but the cost of all five magazines every month kept adding up, so I had to decide to give up one. I also have a few fashion books by the likes of Victoria Beckham and Lauren Conrad and my 'Blank Note Book' which I use as my sketch book.

I've had my bookcase for a few weeks now and I've discovered it definitely isn't easy to keep it constantly tidy!
