Simple Salad Recipe

There seems to be this idea that if you're a vegetarian/vegan, all you eat is salad? Obviously that couldn't be more wrong, but you know what? Salad is lovely and I think people need to stop thinking of salad as boring and tasteless. Yesterday, I made the nicest salad ever to accompany my jacket potato, so I thought I'd share the recipe.

Iceburg Lettuce
Red Cabbage
1 Tablespoon of Guacamole
1 tablespoon of Ketchup

Chop everything up and mix together in a bowl with the guacamole and ketchup. Simple.

I haven't included measurements, because I have no idea how much of each I used.

Week In Pictures #21: We put them in the park and we told them to hold on tight

Finally the sun has made an appearance for the bank holiday weekend. I took advantage of it and spent the whole of the weekend in the garden, drinking, sun-bathing and possibly falling asleep at one point. The rest of my week was spent spending time with my nephew and sister, as well as my friends, watching films or being at the pub.

1. Textiles skills coming into play. 2. New necklace. 3. Treats.
4. Spending time with my nephew. 5. Costa with my sister. 6. Scene kid fringe.
7. Vogue and Kate Moss, perfect. 8. Movie night. 9. Drinks in the sun.

Pretty Please #7

It's been quite a while since I've shopped at New Look for more than the odd item, but after a quick browse on the website, I am thoroughly impressed. I pretty much need this bag in my life and I have a good reason to buy it too, since my current handbag needs replacing. Shirts are my go-to tops, so I definitely need to invest in a few more and skater skirts are a complete necessity for summer.

All items from New Look

What do you think of these items? What's on your current wishlist?

Week In Pictures #20: We walk, we keep each other away

It was my first week back in Birmingham for the Summer this week. It's strange, it feels like so much longer since I was in Southampton! I spent far too much of this week consuming Vodka, but y'know, celebrating being back in B'ham n'all.

1. Apparently tea and pineapple is a strange combination? 2. Pale as Casper. 3. Falafel Pitta.
4. Found this online and loved it. 5. Watching Cinderella. 6. Barry M pastel colours.
7. My most favourite things. 8. Waiting to go to Coventry. 9. Being fat.
10. Out with my best friend. 11. Trying to be healthy. 12. The most perfect sunglasses.

Spring/Summer Nail Colours / Barry M

I love painted nails, I don't feel completely done up with them. For my birthday in April, I got these five Barry M Nail varnishes from my sister. Barry M is one of my go to brands for nail varnish because of the range of colours and value for money. These five pastel shades are definitely going to be worn by me all spring/summer. They're such cute colours and I'm sure will go with pretty much anything I'll be wearing. From thumb to little finger I'm wearing: Strawberry Ice Cream, Mint Green, Berry Ice Cream,  Blue Moon and Peach Melba. Each one needed two coats and dried quickly. I'm not going to discuss how easily  they chip, because as I've mentioned before, they longest my nails last without chipping is only a few hours really. I don't know why the chip so easily, but it upsets me a lot! Of these colours I'd say my favourites are Mint Green and Berry Ice Cream, I've always been a fan of lilac nails!
They're only £2.99 each and I believe they're 3 for 2 in Superdrug at the moment, so I'd definitely advise people to pick a few colours up!

Falafel Salad Pitta Recipe / Vegetarian / Vegan

I had planned to make falafel burgers again yesterday evening, when it turned out I had no burger buns and burgers just aren't the same without them. In such circumstances, I decided to change it up a bit and make a Falafel Salad Pitta. A meal  is suitable for
Vegetarians and Vegans.

I've already posted a recipe for falafel, which you can see here.
The amount in the original falafel post will be enough for two servings, so for this recipe to fill a pitta I halved the amount. Also, instead of creating a normal 'burger' shape, I shaped the falafel into small disc shapes, about the size of a two pound coin. It meant they cooked quicker and were easier to fit into the pitta!

As for the rest of it:
Toast a pitta and cut it in half.
Spread some vegan butter and mustard inside. (Go easy on the mustard)
Chop up some lettuce, red onion and spring onions. (Or use any salad you like)
Place it all in the pitta and add a bit of ketchup.
This is a really filling meal for approx 300 - 400 calories depending on the fillings and sauces used.
Not to mention, it tastes great!

First Year Complete

Today I officially finished my first year of university! I handed in my final piece of work which was a creative development folder, which I had so much trouble getting sorted this morning that I thought I was having a breakdown, but the weight that is lifted from your shoulders when you hand in a final piece is immense. Five days before the deadline I'd like to add!
After uni, I went for lunch and cocktails with some of my favourite people and had a lovely afternoon. As glad as I am to be done with all the work for a few months, I realised today how much I'm going to miss some of the people I've met for the next four months, which is the only problem with moving far away for uni. I always miss people wherever I am.
I've had such a great first year and it's strange to think the people I've met here have only been in my life since last September. In a way I'm already looking forward to coming back in September and moving into my own house with friends and spending second year with everyone.

Vegetarian/Vegan Nakd bars

In January this year I became vegetarian. Due to my vegetarian diet, I've been trying a lot of new foods and drinks and  I've just being trying to eat healthier in general.

Healthier eating has recently led me to 'Nakd bars'. The bars are made from 100% natural ingredients, 'the bars are low in saturated fat, suitable for vegetarians and vegans and many count as 1 of your 5-a-day' Of these bars, they have nine different flavours, the company also produce other products, but I haven't got round to trying them just yet.
I really like these bars because they are just as much of a 'treat' as a chocolate bar it, but they're so much more healthy! They're 74p each from ASDA, which is slightly more expensive than a chocolate bar, but only ever so slightly and they're worth it in my opinion. If you're a vegan looking for a alternative or you're on a diet and want something healthy but still tastes great, then I would definitely recommend these.

Pretty Please #6

With the weather been pretty nice this last week or so, I'm feeling a bit summery which I think is definitely reflected in my wishlist. Only problem is that I have no more room in my wardrobe for anything else, plus my bank balance would not appreciate me buying more clothing.

Dorothy Perkins Floral Wedges / Boohoo Skater Skirt / Inlovewithfashion Dress / Rimmel - Shade 5

What's on your summer wishlist?

Week In Pictures #18 :And what do I know now, that I didn't know before

Although it may not look like it from my photos, this week has consisted of a lot of work. However, I have spent a lot of time out in the sun, but I think that's understandable considering the rarity of good weather in England.
1. Night in before travelling home. 2. Train reading (recommend this book) 3. Countryside.
4. Favourite eyeliner. 5. Lunch in the park. 6. Free Ciate nail varnish in Marie Claire.
7. Honour Over Glory OOTD. 8. Solero in the sun. 9. Baking again.
10. Beauts featuring in my work. 11. Feathers in my hair. 12. Elle and Firefly.

My eye make-up routine / Liquid eyeliner tutorial

I was recently asked via tumblr to do a tutorial for my eyeliner. I'm in no way perfect when it comes to applying liquid eyeliner, but I've been wearing it since I was twelve and I don't think I'm too bad at it.

1. Apply foundation all over face, including eyelids.
2. Draw a line from the corner of eye, gradually getting further from lash line, so it's thicker at the end.
3. Draw the outline of the catflick.
4. Fill the shape in.
5. Adjust shape/flick if necessary.
6. Apply mascara.

I use Collection Fast Stoke Liquid Eyeliner in black and Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara in extreme black.

Hope this is helpful! x

Kukee jewellery

I recently came across Kukee, I think via twitter. After a quick browse on their site, I fell in love with far too many items and couldn't close the page without a purchase or two. I've never been one to wear rings in the past, as I find they can be irritating, however I couldn't not buy some of the ones I saw. I went for the gemstone ring, in rose quartz and heart druzy ring. At a total of £4.50 for both rings, they were an absolute bargain. The fact that both ring are adjustable in size is a massive bonus for me, as I often find rings even when I go for a small size are still too big and I end up not being able to wear them. Kukee is great value for money, I've already found more items that I need to purchase!
