Turning nineteen

I turned 19 on Saturday and I had such a good birthday, I thought it deserved to be blogged about.

On the Friday evening, my family and I went to the Harvester restaurant for dinner. I had chips and a gorgeous chickpea burger, but lets face it the best thing about the harvester is the (I want to say cobs, but no one will understand so) bread rolls from the salad bar.

I woke up on Saturday to far too many presents. This is Vera Wang Night Princess perfume. It smells beautiful and the bottle is black and glittery. What more could I want from a perfume!?

My mother knows about my love of shorts, as well as floral so bought me these pieces from New Look. Perfect for summer.

I originally asked for this from my siblings, but my mother went and bought it my instead. It's from Forever21 and I adore it. Makes a change from my black leather jacket.

I left my room for a moment and when I returned there was a gift bag sitting on my desk. My sister bought my Paper Towns by John Green, a book I've wanted for ages and her boyfriend bought me a multipack of Twix bars, I'm not sure which present I preferred! Haha.

After opening my presents, I got ready and headed to the tattoo studio with my friend Emily.
I got the Frightened Rabbit logo on my left side. I love it.

After getting my tattoo, we made our way to the pub to meet my other two friends Ciara and Danielle for lunch. When I got there, they had bought me this gorgeous cake and lit the candles. I was slightly embarrassed, but it was so lovely of them. Tasted pretty lovely as well.

After lunch, we had a mooch around the shops and I spotted these in H&M. I bought them after being convinced by my friends to treat myself as after all, it was my birthday.

As if I hadn't got enough already, my older sister had a present waiting for me when I got home. Gorgeous colours of Barry M nail polish

That night, me and my friends went to Uprawr to finish my birthday off with lots of vodka. These are the only photos I have, as me and my friends aren't really big on taking loads. I had such a good night, well the bits I can remember were good at least!

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who celebrated my birthday with me and also to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. x

Pretty Please #5: Make Up Bags

I'm in need of a new make-up bag, as the one I currently have is the size of a handbag and there is just no need for one that big. I've came across these and I like them all, but the Paul & Joe bag a little bit more than the rest. I'm just not sure if I can justify spending £20 on a make-up bag,
someone tell me it's okay?

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss: 101

Sorry about the weird pout thing, braces make life difficult!

I would like to dedicate this blog post to the new love of my life and yes, I'm talking about a lipstick.
I popped into Superdrug to pick up a new foundation and powder, when I noticed the 3 for 2 offer. Now I already have more than enough pink lipsticks, but when I saw this I couldn't not buy it. It's bright enough to be 'barbie' pink, but not too bright that it looks neon and the fact that it's part of Kate Moss's range is a bonus.  I love a matte finish and I've wore this pretty much everyday for the last week, I'm really impressed with how long it lasts and it's only £5.49! I think it's pretty obvious I would recommend!

Outfit Post: Hey Mickey you're so fine

I got this skirt from for Xmas, but had never got round to wearing it, I had never managed style it into an outfit I liked. I bought this crop top a few weeks ago and I literally threw these two items together when I was bored one night and it seemed to work. Finally, I've been able to wear the skirt!

Body Piercing

Piercings are becoming increasingly popular these days. I remember when I got my Tragus pierced at the age on 14 and none of my school friends had ever seen or heard of the piercing, now it seems that everyone has it done.
I love piercings personally, I don't get them to be different or for attention, I just really like them and I can't exactly explain why. I got my first piercings at the age of about 7, when I got my lobes pierced in Claires accessories of course and then again at the age about around 10.

I hit 14 and me and a friend decided to get another piercing, that being our tragus'. Since then I've got a piercing or two every year. I've had all together twenty one piercings and currently have fourteen.
Left Image (right ear): Helix, Double Forward Helix, Anti- Tragus, Lobes X2
Right Image (left ear): Tragus, Rook Double Helix, Lobes X2
Other: Nipples

I've just got back from getting two new piercings (double forward helix), which is what inspired me to write this. I thought I'd give a few tips and pointers to those looking to get a piercing in the future!
(I'm in no way an expert, but after so many piercings, I like to think I know a thing or two)

Don't get a piercing with a gun - It won't be sterilised, which could lead to infection and guns also cause a lot of trauma to the skin.

Go to a reputable piercer - Make sure when getting pierced that the person doing it has got a certificate to prove they have gone through the required training to pierce people.

There are age restrictions - Any reputable piercing studio will follow the law and not pierce people under a certain age, particularly intimate piercings aren't done on anyone under the age of 18.
A lot of studios won't pierce anyone under the age of 16 without parental consent.

You don't need to spend a lot on cleaning product - Many places sell products to clean your new piercing, buy them if that's what you want, but mixing a bit of salt with boiling water will work perfectly fine.

Don't mess with the piercing during the healing process - You may think your hands are clean, but  when you touch the piercing you're transferring bacteria on to it, which could result in an infection and will prolong the healing process.
Piercings hurt, but the pain varies for each person - Piercings are going to hurt, you're getting a needle pushed through your skin/cartilage, however the pain varies for everyone.
I thought the forward helix barely hurt, whereas my friend said it hurt her a lot.

Don't let the pain put your off - The pain of piercing lasts for a few seconds if that and you may experience a dull pain for a bit of time afterwards, but a piercing is worth it!

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them as best as I can.

Printer Pix - 40 Free Photographs

Being at university so far away from home, 143 miles to be precise, it's inevitable that I'm going to miss people from back home, which is partly why I've decided to decorate my whole cork board with photographs, that and the fact it looks pretty cool. I had about twenty printed out for when I moved in, but that didn't nearly cover it all.
I recently came across Printer pix  and as the name suggests, it's a company which prints out your photographs. With Printer Pix, you get 40 free photos printed when you join and you just pay postage!

The delivery was quick and the photos are of good quality, so I'd definitely recommend them!

Falafel Burger / Meat alternative burger

I'm not sure I've really mentioned it on here, but in January I became a vegetarian and since then I've been trying out a whole heap of new food and I recently came across a recipe for 'Falafel burgers'.
The recipe was really simple and I decided to give it a go, with the help of my friend Emily.
I have tweaked the ingredients slightly, (to fit in with what I had in my cupboards really).

What you will need it:
200g of Chickpeas, rinsed and drained.
1/2 teaspoon of Chilli Powder.
1 teaspoon of onion granules.
2 tablespoons of plain flour.
2 tablespoons of sunflower oil.
Salt and Pepper to taste.

First of all make sure your chickpeas are drained thoroughly and add them to a bowl
Add the rest of the ingredients and mash them all up. You can also use a blender for this part.

Once everything is combined take half of the mixture and form it into a burger like shape.
Obviously, do the same with the other half.

Fry them in a little bit of oil until they have browned.

Add to a burger bun with any topping you like!
Emily went for cheese and coleslaw, while I chose a classic cheese and ketchup combination
They're so simple to make and took it about 25 minutes from start to finish.
I've also made these burgers adding cheese, onion and salsa sauce to the mixture, you can basically add whatever you like to suit your taste.

If you have a go at making these yourself, let me know how it goes and if you have any vegetarian recipes you'd want to share, I'd love to hear them.

clothingloves.net

I recently came across clothingloves.net, a cheap wholesale company that sells everything from weddings dresses to lingerie. The first thing I searched for was jewellery and discovered the massive range they sell, with not far off one thousand items to browse through. I haven’t bought anything from there just yet, because I’m trying to pick between all the items I’ve now got bookmarked.

There is also a huge range of clothing, which I was more than pleasantly surprised by the price of the items. These are some of my favourite pieces after looking through just a small section of the online shop, a gorgeous long cardigan and two blouses found in the t-shirt womens section.

And for the males, there is nearly 4000 items in the Wholesale men's clothing section,so with summer coming up and no doubt a little shopping spree for the season in order, clothingloves would be a good place to shop if you're looking to be kind to your bank balance.

Maybelline Colour Sensational 'Couture Grey'

Boredom got the better of me today and I decided to raid my sister nail varnish collection (thanks Louise!) to see if she'd brought any new colours I hadn't yet borrowed from her and just my luck, she had. After a recommendation from me to shop on Fragrance direct, she went and bought Maybelline Colour Sensational Nail Varnish in 'Couture Grey', for just 99p may I add. I don't often see people sporting grey nail varnish, but I think I may have to add a grey to my own collection now. Application was easy and neat, the brush is the perfect size that after three strokes on the nail, it's fully covered and  I only needed two coats for opaque coverage. Would definitely recommend and I will be purchasing my own bottle of it when I finally get my loan through.
