Week In Pictures #13: You looked at me, my lips went dry

I'm really enjoying being at home and as much as I miss everyone at uni and want to see them, part of me wants to stay in Birmingham. This week I've seen friends, probably drank too much vodka, photographed a shoot for my uni project and had lunch with my sisters. It's been fun and I hope next week is just as good!
1. Ombre ginger! (Review soon) 2. Baby yoghurt and tea. 3. Tea and TV.
4. OOTD. 5. Skittles are my absolute favourite. 6. My nephew has mastered the pout.
7. Shocking stuff in Primark. 8. Hot chocolate in Arctic conditions. 9. Hangover cure.
10. Shopping. 11. Treats from my mother. 12. Lunch with my sisters.

L'Oreal Feria Wild Ombre

Recently, I got really bored of my hair but cutting it is out of the question completely as I've been growing it for over two years now and still dream of longer thicker hair, so the colour had to be changed. Not long ago I dyed it red using a semi-permanent dye, which I liked but I've always wanted a lighter hair colour. This is were the ombre style came in. It's been massively popular for the last year and I decided to join the trend.

I used the shade No 1, made for dark brown - light brown hair ,as my hair is a medium brown with the odd ginger or blonde streak.

Before.

 During.
After

The process was so simple, the brush given in the box is useful, however I found it much easier to apply the colour to my hair using my hands, but of course that's down to personal preference. Although, I think the brush is quite harsh on your hair, as it pulled out quite of bit of mine!
The end result was quite ginger on my hair, which I think is due to all the other colours underneath, however I really like the it! I've had it done for about a week now and the ginger tone has calmed down slightly and it looks a lot more natural. I'd definitely recommend this product and I'm now tempted to get a lighter colour in the range to make it a bit more blonde.

Have you used this product? What did you think of it?

Good Friday Shopping

Today, I went into town with my younger sister, (who is brilliant to go shopping with and she thinks the same about me, so we make a great shopping pair) for a more than overdue shopping trip.

Primark jewellery seems to be ever improving, so I'd advise all you bloggers to take a trip and take advantage of the low prices! Buying sunglasses when there is still snow on the ground seemed a little odd, but when I saw these beauties in Forever21, I couldn't help myself, they're beautiful! And anyone who knows me, knows I basically live in shorts, whatever the weather. Recently my favourite pair broke, but I think these two pairs more than make up for it.

MUA BB Foundation

In desperate need of a foundation and being pretty skint led me to buy MUA BB Foundation. At just £4 it was the cheapest foundation I could find and I've seen a fair few positive reviews about this product. I got it in Light Rose as I'm practically a ghost when it comes to skin colour. As you can see in the picture above, even the palest colour appears far to dark for my skin, however once applied properly to my face, the colour match is pretty great. Although the colour matches well, the foundation itself I do not get on with. It has a very thick consistency and unless I moisturised my face a lot before applying the foundation it looks horribly cakey, whereas with other foundations I haven't found it necessary to moisturise before application.

I really am quite gutted about it as I'm a fan of other MUA products, however this one just didn't work with my skin, so personally I wouldn't recommend it, however it won't put me off trying other MUA products in the future.

Week In Pictures #12: Punctured bicycle, on a hillside desolate

4. CK purchases. 5. Bikini So Teeny. 6. Go away snow.
7. My cat looking evil. 8. FOTD while waiting to go out. 9. Favourites.

Essie: Bikini So Teeny Review

I've wanted to try Essie nail polish for ages now, after seeing countless blog posts about how good it is, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay the £7.99 price tag, which I think, as a student is pretty understandable. Luckily for me, I picked this one up for just £1.99! The best thing about the polish is probably the brush, it's wide enough that in one stroke my whole nail is covered and with just two coats, you get an opaque finish. I really like this colour, the pastel blue colour is perfect for Spring, so I'll definitely be getting a lot of wear out of this. As much as I love the nail polish, I still couldn't pay full price for a bottle, although I will definitely be buying some more colours at the discounted price!

Calvin Klein and Rimmel Lipstick

I was never one for wearing lipsticks, but after getting a MAC lipstick as a going away present for Uni, I've started wearing them so much more often, my make-up doesn't feel complete without a bit of lippy.
At the beginning of the week, I decided to treat myself and purchased a few to add to my growing collection.
Calvin Klein - Ethereal
Calvin Klein - Cosmopolitan

Rimmel - Stylish
Cosmopolitan, Ethereal, Stylish

I've very much drawn to pink/nude colours so the Cosmopolitan is a bit bolder than I'd usually go for, but I've been wearing it all day and I love it, I feel much more dressed up with a lip colour on.
I purchased these for fragrancedirect.com for £1.99 per Calvin Klein lipstick and just 99p for the Rimmel lipstick! An absolute bargain, that my bank account appreciated. I'll definitely be buying more in the near future and I think a nice lipstick display unit might be in order very soon.

Have you tried Calvin Klein/Rimmel lipsticks? Any colours that you would recommend?

Illustration in fashion magazines

As one of my units for University, I'm creating a magazine front cover and trend article. After looking at various magazines, I have decided I was to include illustration in my work, rather than just photography. Of course, this work goes hand in hand with a lot of research and this is where you come in!
I would appreciate it massively if you could leave your comments below of your opinion on illustration in fashion magazines. Whether you like it or not, I'd love to know

Vogue Magazine

I'm sure most of my followers on here are as into fashion magazines as I am and with us being the target audience for such magazines, it'd be great to be able to include your opinions in my development work book.

If you could leave your comment, along with Name, Age and Blog URL that'd be amazing of you!

Pretty Please #3

Being back in Birmingham and near the Bullring shopping centre is making it so much more difficult not to blow my overdraft! These are my current wants. I've always wanted a pale pink 'leather' jacket and this one is the same as my shape as my black one, so I know it's perfect, apart from being £52 more than I can afford and I've never tried Topshop make-up before, but I've read a lot of good reviews of it and I adore this colour.

Week in Pictures #10: And the walls kept tumbling down

It was my last week in Southampton until after Easter and to be honest I've had quite a boring week this week, other than a couple of good nights out, which have cost me more money that I should have spent, so I'm quite looking forward to going home, at least there's the chance of decent food there!

1. Saturday night Skittle Vodka. 2. Buying crap because it's Disney. 3. Painting with tea.
4. OOTD. 5. Doodling. 6. OOTD.
7. MUA Bright Pink. 8. Blog post. 9. Favourite.

Spring 2013

I'm totally loving the Spring trends of 2013, with the mix of simple 60's to horizontal stripes to the classic floral, it makes me realise how much I need to go shopping and embrace these gorgeous trends!
These are just a few of my favourites from Designers Spring 2013 collections.

What's your favourite trend?

Because you’ll never see, that the stars are free

It feels like forever since I last did an outfit post! The reason behind this is the fact I haven't wore any outfits recently that I felt were blog-worthy, until yesterday. I absolutely adore this dress and I can tell I'm going to wear it to death. I got it from New Look for like £12.99, it's basically a cheaper version of the Topshop Speckle Tee Dress, which I have wanted forever.

p.s. I am of course wearing this with my doc martens.

MUA Nail Varnish 'Bright Pink'

When in Superdrug the other day to get some foundation, I couldn't help but pick myself up another nail varnish. I have been meaning to buy a bright pink nail varnish ever since my Models Own ran out but I kept forgetting. However, when MUA nail varnish is just £1 and I saw the perfect pink, I had to buy it.

This colour is the perfect 'Barbie pink' in my eyes, although it's actually called 'Bright Pink'. I found that two coats was enough to give good coverage and the only complaint I have is one that I've noticed before with an MUA nail varnish. The brush isn't the best quality as the bristles often separate, however when paying just £1 for the nail varnish, I can't exactly expect too much from it, but that is literally the only problem, so I'm happy to continue buying MUA varnishes.

What do you think of MUA? Any Nail varnish colours that you would recommend?

Week In Pictures #9: The search for answers is an idiots task

This week has pretty much consisted of sketching and eating sweets. I cannot be bothered to do any work for my other units, I just want to focus drawing for my design theory and practise unit and I cannot wait to be going home for Easter, 10 days!
1. Sketching. 2. Slight addiction  3. Bought solely because it was Hello Kitty.
4. More sketching. 5. Perfection. 6. Bed hair side plait.
7. Forgot I had this. 8. Shopping! 9. Simple OOTD.

This is where all my money goes

I thought I'd do a bit of a mini-haul of the items I've bought recently. I had planned to just include them in outfit posts, however the lighting in my room is terrible and the weather is never good enough for me incorporate the items into outfits I really like. Boo! Admittedly, I'm skint right now, however most of these items I have pretty good excuses for buying, or at least I'm telling myself that.
First things I bought were my bag and leopard print shoes. My other bag had completely broke, so I think this is a reasonable purchase, I got it from a shop via eBay and it was around £15. The shoes were an impulse buy from Primark and were £5.

This Barbie dress(which I will wear at a top) was another purchase from eBay and only £10, now I may not have completely need it, but I fell in love with it, so I couldn't deny myself it. I got these jeans from New Look for a night out when I was back home, there were £25, but my student discount meant I only paid £22.50!
I recently sold something on eBay which meant money in my paypal account. The grey skater dress is a copy of Topshop's speckle tee dress, which I have been dying to get my hands on, but I saw this on New Looks website for just £12.99. I then picked up two bargains! The yellow roll t-shirt and black crop top for just £4.99 each. I ordered these and chose the 'click and collect' option, meaning providing you spend over £20 you can pick it up from in-store and save on postage costs.
On my way back from collecting my New Look items, I popped into Superdrug. My foundation ran out this morning and although I love it, I decided to save my pennies where possible and went for MUA's foundation instead in Light Rose, it was only £4 and I've seen a lot of positive reviews, so I'm hoping I'll love it just as much as my Rimmel. I also picked up a MUA nail varnish, because I couldn't resist the colour and then boring cleansing wipes.

It may seem weird, but I think this is the purchase I'm most excited about. I studied art at both GCSE and A-Level and loved it and I really miss having a sketch book to fill. Luckily for my, one of my units at uni is making magazines, therefore we need development work, meaning I get to be all arty again! This was £4.99 from the works with 99p postage, which is the cheapest I've seen for a good quality A3 sketch book

See, I think my reasoning is pretty decent!
Have you bought anything interesting lately?
Have you starting buying for you Spring/Summer wardrobe yet?
