Christmas Gift Ideas For £20 Or Under

With Christmas less than a month away, I've realised that I really have to get organised with gift buying, so far I've only bought three. I know how difficult it can be to find presents for people. so I thought I would share some of the things I've found while browsing the Internet. I particularly love the Toadstool T-Lights!

Week In Pictures #46: Swim until you can't see land

I had a fairly average week, but I travelled back to Birmingham for a very long weekend and a much needed break from uni life. I had dinner with my sister, visited the German market and went out to Uprawr with my friends last night. I'm not looking forward to the train journey home tomorrow.
1. Using my hand as a canvas. 2. Essential purchase. 3. Delayed train.
4. Dinner with my sister. 5. Christmas jumper. 6. New favourite t-shirt.

The Warehouse Cafe

I'm back in Birmingham for a very long weekend and having not seen my sister, Louise for nearly a month, I thought that was more than enough of an excuse for us to go out for dinner. I met her after she finished Sixth Form for the day and we headed into Birmingham City Center.

After a ten minute walk in the freezing cold, which included us getting lost, we arrived at
The Warehouse Cafe. The restaurant is really cute and cosy, a perfect place to get away from the arctic temperatures outside.

Once inside and seated, we ordered drinks. Louise went for the sensible option of a cup of tea,

while I wasn't so sensible and went for a Fentimans Rose Lemonade,
but at least when offered ice, I declined.

For dinner I ordered the Sweet & Spicy burger and Louise went for the Original.
Both were served with salad and potato wedges which Louise was thoroughly impressed with and gave a 10/10.

When I said it was cute, it really is. The ketchup was even served in mini jars.

The Sweet & Spicy burger was lovely, the contrast of the the pineapple and chili worked really well.
The original burger, which I had a taste of wasn't as impressive, but Louise who is new to the world of Vegetarianism was more than happy with it.

We left empty plates, well almost empty in Louise's case. She must have been too full to finish her salad. The meal came to less that £20 for the both of us and the service was great. Definitely worth the walk in the cold and I will no doubt be back there soon enough. There is a vegan chocolate brownie on the menu that I just have to try.

LyDia 12 Piece Make Up Brush Set

I'll admit that up until now I've been a bad beauty blogger. Although I already a had a few various ones, I'd never owned a full set of make-up brushes. Well, I've finally put things right and purchased a set. I did originally look to ELF for some, but as my student loan is running out and Christmas is coming, I couldn't afford nearly £40 for them, so instead I looked to eBay and Amazon to help.
I came across a brand called LyDia, which was in my price range. For just £7.99 I purchased this 12 piece make up brush set, with a faux leather case. Before buying them I contacted the seller to ask what the bristles were made of and I was told they were 'high-standard nylon yarn', which I was pleased to hear. I have nothing negative to say about these brushes so far and I am particularly loving the small angled brush as my eyebrows are looking better than ever! I'd definitely recommend these to anyone on a budget.

Week In Pictures #45: And you know when it's all gone, something carries on

My week started in the best possible way, seeing Frightened Rabbit live. The rest of the week was fairly average, but a highlight was definitely having vegan cheese to make cheese on toast with, which I haven't had for far too long, oh and buying another hat for winter. It's so cute I want to wear it all the time.

1. Frightened rabbit ♥ 2. Lashes and brushes. 3. What my lecture consisted of.
4. Randomly finding pictures on my phone. 5. Vegan chocolate and cheese! 6. OOTD/New Winter Hat.

Favourite Albums

Last Sunday I saw my favourite band Frightened Rabbit and it has inspired me to do a music related post about my favourite albums. My music taste judging from this selection of albums could easily be classified as 'Indie Rock with a particular love of Scottish bands'.
Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight / Frightened Rabbit - The Winter Of Mixed Drinks
Shock horrow, there are two Frabbit albums included. These are the first two albums I heard when I discovered Frightened Rabbit a few years ago and I could easily listen to them on repeat constantly
(I pretty much already do)
You Me At Six - Take Off Your Colours / The Twilight Sad - No One Can Ever Know
I remember finding YMAS on Myspace when they had a few songs posted on their page, immediately fell in love with them and have loved them ever since.
I found The Twilight Sad through watching Frabbit videos on YouTube. They're pretty sombre and dark, but there is something about their music that I love.
We Were Promised Jetpacks - These Four Walls / Twin Atlantic - Free
I was introduced to WWPJ by a friend about a year ago and they've easily become of my favourite bands, they're somewhat more upbeat that the majority of music I listen to.
I don't know anyone who doesn't like Twin Atlantic and I totally understand why. This album is brilliant and one that I couldn't pick just one favourite song from.
The Dykeenies - Nothing Means Everything / Mallory Knox - Signals
I have no idea how I came about The Dykeenies and they're one of those bands that I can go ages without listening to, but then whenever I do listen to them I question why I haven't listened to them for so long.
I first heard Mallory Knox on Kerrang TV and didn't pay much attention to them, a few months later I downloaded their album and became a fan. I saw them live at Godiva festival and I am desperate to see them again!

Obviously, I think my music taste is pretty great and would recommend you check out all of the above bands/albums. I'd also appreciate it if any of my followers would recommend some bands that are their favourites.

Pretty Please #15 Xmas List

I'm getting quite excited for Xmas this year, I think it's because I'm away from my family so much because of uni, so it'll be really nice to be back with them for a few weeks. In between trying to find gifts for others, I ended up discovering some things I'd quite like myself.

Week In Pictures #44: I'm done playin' stone paper scissors

This week has actually been such a good one, despite the stress of deadlines. I've been to multiple house viewing, still yet to find the perfect house for a reasonable price, but I'm remaining hopefully. I had a good night out with my friends during the week and a 'cocktail night in' last night turned into us inviting friends friends and getting far too drunk. We had a cat visit us a couple of times this week, we've named him Pumpkin and I also took a step into living a Vegan lifestyle. I plan to only eat Vegan food from now on and I will eventually switch my current cosmetics for Vegan alternatives.

1. Pumpkin. 2. Lunch. 3. Night out with my housemates.
4. The girls made me a cake. 5. Vegan food shop. 6. Firework display

Collection Pressed Powder 02 Tender Touch

Collection Pressed Power 02 Tender Touch
And once again, I've bought a new powder to try out. After getting through my Maybelline Dream Matte Powder and not being 100% happy with it, I decided a new one of a different brand was necessary. I've been using various Collection products for years and I've always been relatively if not very happy with them and this powder was no different. At just £1.99 from Superdrug, it's an absolute bargain and it contains Vitamine E, UVA and UBV sunscreen, which is a bonus. I'm pale, but not quite ghost like, so I went for Tender Touch. It gives a hint of colour, without being unnatural looking. The powder gives good coverage, I only had to apply one layer over my foundation and I was happy with it and it gets rid of any shine on my face,as well as leaving a nice matte finish. I'm really happy with the product and see no reason not to buy it in the future, being such a cheap price and good quality.
