West Midlands Vegan Festival

On Saturday me and my friend Ciara took a drive to Wolverhampton, to visit the West Midlands Vegan Festival at The Wolverhampton Civic. I'm currently only vegetarian, but I am cutting down my dairy intake and looking more closely at the cosmetics and toiletries I use, trying to insure they're not tested on animals.

The event welcomes everyone 'You don't have to be veggie or vegan to attend, everyone is welcome! Come and see why people are increasingly adopting a vegan lifestyle.'

After a quick look around, we spotted a cocktail bar and headed straight to it. I believe they were JM CocktailsThe guys working behind the bar were lovely and made us a Vodka, Blue Curacao and fruit juice cocktail. Definitely a great way to start the day.

Totally by coincidence, the next stall we headed to was a wine stall. Offering red, rose and white wine, Ciara decided to purchase a bottle for her mother. I'm not a fan of wine at all, so I steered clear.

Outside there were several stalls set up and this was my favourite. Free cheese samples, yes please.
It was the first time I'd ever tried vegan cheese, some were much nicer than others and I'm gutted because there was one I really liked and I forgot to make a note of its name, so it is now a mission of mine to find it.

After the cheese samples, me and Ciara were a bit peckish and got a Vegan burger each from Change Kitchen. They don't look particularly attractive and could have been a bit warmer, but overall the taste of it was nice.

And for desert, this chocolate and hazelnut muffin from Tall Poppy Foods.

Definitely wasn't disappointed and I would have bought more if it wouldn't have made me look greedy.
However, I couldn't leave there empty handed, so I picked up some Vegan chocolate from Moo Free Chocolates

and a sightly random purchase of this Rose Quartz crystal. I've had a small collection for years and I couldn't not buy this, it's beautiful!

I really enjoyed the Vegan Festival and seriously guys, those cupcakes were just A*.

Pretty Please #14

Once again, I cannot help myself browsing the net for clothes even though I'm on a clothes spending ban. Typically, I've found loads of things I love. The colour of both the skirts are gorgeous and would be perfect for brightening up a winter outfit. I've wanted leather look leggings for an insane amount of time and once again, I'm after a new handbag that as usual looks extremely similar to the one I currently have.

Week In Pictures #42: Where's your passion? Where's your fire tonight?

I think it's safe to say, I've been rubbish at blogging this week. I have tonsillitis, so this last week I've lacked the energy to do pretty much anything, luckily I feeling a lot better now thanks to some antibiotics, so I'm going to try and get back to blogging regularly. This week, as I said I've been ill, so haven't done that much, but I came home to Birmingham on Thursday night and it's been lovely seeing my family and friends after a month without them. Oh and I also went to the West Midlands Vegan Festival on Saturday, which was good. Came home with chocolate and a crystal, as you do.

4. Dinner. 5. Journey home. 6. Bought by the fam to help me through my illness.

The shorts were only £6.30 including p&p, such a bargain. My housemate has Spyro on PS and left it for me to play when she went home. Best thing ever.

4. This will take over my life. 5. New, beautiful shorts. 6. Frozen yogurt dessert.

Collection Perfect Finish Foundation

I am still and feel like I forever will be on the search for the perfect foundation. I popped into Superdrug after university desperate to buy a new one as my previous one is far to dark for my skin, now that my slight summer tan has faded and bought Collection Perfect Finish Foundation in Ivory.

When I first applied the foundation, I found that it was quick thick and needed to be blended in quickly, but once it's applied is doesn't feel heavy or thick on my face at all. The colour suits my skin tone quite well and I'm thankful for the pump on the bottle, as I hate having to pour foundation on to my hand and then apply it to my face, like I had to with my last foundation. The description states 'full coverage', which I would agree with, I usually find that redness in my cheeks gets through foundations but this Perfect Finish seems to be doing a good job at covering it and the addition of SPF 20 is a bonus. The only negative of the foundation so far is that it does look a bit shiny on my skin, however this is sorted out once I apply my face powder. At just £3.99, it's a good foundation considering its cheap price tag and providing my skin doesn't change, I would be tempted to buy it again.

Week In Pictures #40: So go on, do what you like

Only five days late posting this, woops. These are the few photos I instagrammed last week before my phone was stolen. I also won't have any photos to post for this week, as although I have a phone now, I'm without a memory card.

1. Night out. 2. Diets are impossible.
3. Shopping. 4. Pendulum!

Haus of Deck Jewellery

I was recently contacted Haus of Deck, an Irish independent jewellery store and asked if I would be interested in choosing an item from their store to review. After a quick look though the items, I fell in love with possibly too many necklaces, but finally decided on the dark blue necklace. Along with the necklace, Haus of Deck were lovely enough to also send me a gold cross ring.

The necklace is chunky and bright, I only tend to wear statement jewellery, so it's perfect for me! I put it on as soon as it was delivered, with an otherwise boring outfit and it improved it straight away. My only concern with the necklace is that I may end up over-wearing it, as I'm already planning different outfits I can wear it with. At £14, it's a bit more expensive than the jewellery I tend to buy, but from wearing the necklace so far, it is well made and if I wear it as much as I plan to, then it's worth that price. The ring, which I can't find on the website unfortunately, isn't something I'd see in a shop and think to buy, but I actually really like it. I think it will look good amongst a few more gold rings, so I think that may be a good enough excuse to buy some.

As you can probably already tell, I'm really happy with the items I've got from Haus of Deck and I can't help but browse their shop looking for items to buy, so I recommend you do the same.

A few favourites of mine are: Neon Pink Necklace / Silver Skull Bangle / Gold Cuff

Pretty Please #13

Although I may be trying to spend less, that doesn't mean I can't at least browse, right? I love all of these items, they're quite bright colours that I wouldn't usually go for, I'm surprised there isn't anything black on here. Also, if I'm totally honest, I found the barbie jumper when there was a 20% offer on, so I may have purchased it.

Unfortunately my phone was stolen a few nights ago, so I'm currently without a phone at all. I'm hopefully getting one this week to keep me in contact with the world until I get my insurance sorted with my contract.
Therefore, blogposts will be much less regular as I usually use my phone as a camera.

Student loan spending

While my house-mates are all out at the student lock in, I'm sat at home with a cup of tea. I would love to be there with them spending all my student loan. Despite registering for the lock in, I've decided not to go in order to avoid temptation and ending up with an empty bank account. I went shopping yesterday with friends and although I hadn't planned to spend any money, I ended up spending money in the New Look sale and I also popped into Primark to find a bag to replace the one I broke last night.

Primark £6
New Look £5

New Look £3
New Look £6

New Look £9

Have you picked up anything nice in the sales recently?
