Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara Review

I'm still in the process of reviewing all the make-up items I got for Xmas, as I want to use them for long enough to see what they're truly like and how long they last. So, this is my next item, Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara. Mascara isn't usually that important to me, as I tend to wear false eyelashes, however recently I've decided to stop wearing them as often, as taking them off every evening results in some of my actual eyelashes coming off with them and that's never good!

When I first used this mascara, I wasn't impressed. It was very thick and didn't make my eyelashes look good at all and I thought I'd have to go and buy different brand, however I think with most mascaras, they tend to perform a bit better after a few weeks, when they've dried out a little and this one definitely did.
Just the fact that I feel comfortable wearing just this and no false lashes means a big thumbs up from me!
It lengthens and thickens my lashes, (thinking about it, I should have done a before and after picture, oops).
The mascara doesn't flake off, nor does it run at all and there a few clumps, but I always brush through my lashes anyway to make sure they're separated anyway.
Overall, I am really glad I didn't just discard this mascara after the first few uses and at just £6.99 I would happily buy it again.

Have you tried this mascara? What did you think of it?

Pretty Please #2

I don't know why I create these wish lists, especially when I have no money at all, I'm currently in my overdraft, however I adore all of these items and I know I will have to buy them at some point soon, it's just a matter of how I'm going to afford it that's bothering me. I love grey as a bit of a changefrom black and I fell in love with the Monki tee as soon as I saw it. If anyone wants to donate money to me, please feel free!

Rimmel Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Eyeliner

I've been using liquid eyeliner since I was about twelve, but rarely have I used anything other than Collection 2000. Unfortunately, I ran out of it a few days ago and have no money to buy anymore, luckily the Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner in my make-up box which I got for Xmas came to the rescue!

The quality of the eyeliner is good, however I found I have to apply two layers of it to get a completely black line, but that doesn't bother me too much as I usually go over my eyeliner at least once to perfect the line anyway. My main issue with the eyeliner is the wand! I cannot cope with it being so thin and moving so much. I found it impossible to get a straight line of eyeliner (maybe I'm just not very skilled), so I have had to use my collection 2000 eyeliner pen with the Rimmel eyeliner. Once the eyeliner is on, I have no complaints: it stays on for as long as my usual eyeliner does and I've found it doesn't crack much, like some people often find with liquid eyeliner.
I think I'm quite attached to my Collection eyeliner, this one just isn't for me, however this eyeliner would be great for those with a steady hand or wanting to get very a precise line.

Collection Cover Up Stick Review

It wasn't long ago that I reviewed a concealer, but having run out of it I needed to pick one up quickly and although the concealer I previously reviewed was worth the £4.99 price tag, I am literally so skint that I can't currently afford it. After being impressed by one Collection concealer, I picked up another, but this one at a price of just £1.99. I bought the Collection Cover Up Stuck in Light Translucent.

In the past I've used concealer sticks, but I've always found them to be quite thick, however the cover up stick applied to the skin is smooth, thick enough to cover blemishes, but thin enough that it doesn't look 'cakey'. I use it to cover dark circles under my eyes and to cover redness on my cheeks and unless my dark circles are particularly bad, it works well at hiding them. Personally, I'd still rather use Collections Illuminating Touch concealer because I do prefer liquid concealers, but for £1.99 you can't go far wrong with the cover up stick.

Have you tried and Collection products? Are there any you'd recommend?

P.S. Is it just me who can't get used to the name change and will forever refer to them as 'Collection 2000?'

Frightened Rabbit: Pedestrian Verse Album and Gig Review

First off, the album, Pedestrian Verse was released February 4th. Now I love Frightened Rabbit, so I may be a bit bias, but it really is a brilliant album. With there previous albums focusing on a break-up, Pedestrian Verse is a lot more upbeat and positive, with catchy lyrics. I have already picked up a fair few of the lyrics, but saying that...I've listened to the album at least 50 times. I am of course going to recommend this album and their others to anyone and everyone, I absolutely adore this band.
My current favourites from the album are: Oil Slick, Backyard Skulls and Holy

Leading on from that is the gig review. I had been waiting months for the date to finally come around. On the 11th on February I travelled to Portsmouth with two friends to see Frightened Rabbit. The two support acts were Wintersleep and Washington Irving; both were really good and not dissimilar to Frightened Rabbit, meaning even though I'd never heard either of them before, I enjoyed listening to their music.
I was at the front by the time Washing Irving played, ready for Frightened Rabbit and despite being 18, I was like a little kid at Christmas when they finally came on stage. They sound exactly as they do on the album and Scott has great stage presence and interacted with the crowd. Singing a selection of songs from the new and previous albums, I think my favourites they performed were: Good Arms vs. Bad Arms and Oil Slick. It upsets me to think I won't see them perform again for a long time, yes I'm already planning to get tickets for whenever they play near me next.

Week In Pictures #6: Believe in me

I went back to Birmingham on Wednesday last week last week as it was my little sisters 16th birthday and a bit more of a boring reason, but I had to go to the dentist as well. During my stay back home, I also went to Coventry to see one of my friends at uni for two days. Safe to say, too much money was spent, alcohol consumed and food eaten.

1. Lunch with my course mates. 2. Cocktails at The Hobbit. 3. FOTD.
 4.  Travelling home. 5. My beautiful cat. 6. FOTD/OOTD.
7. Most recent purchase. 8. Out in Cov. 9. Lunch.

Andrew Barton Making Waves Review

I recently saw a review of this on another blog and it looked like exactly what I needed to create the beach waves that I've always wished I was blessed naturally with! Currently on offer in Argos at just £22.49 it's a great bargain, which is mainly why I went ahead and bought it without thinking about it too much.
It's really simple to use, you just take a section of hair and work your way down, waving it. The only negative about the product itself is the temperature dial, when using the waver, I kept accidentally knocking it and it would change the temperate, but other than that, I have no complaints.
The first time I used this I wasn't totally convinced by the results and was tempted to return it, however after being asked by a friend to review it, I decided to give it another go and now I'm really happy with the result. All I did differently was not wave to close to the roots on the top layer, so it looks more natural. I did take me an hour to wave all of my hair, but I have nearly waist length and thick hair.
I think it's would be especially good for people with thin hair, as it adds a lot of volume to your hair.
I'd recommend this product if you want to create the beach wave look, it's something different to straight or curly hair and it's great value for money.

Possible blog name change?

Although I like 'Ribbons, Leather and Lace', I think it's a bit too long for a blog name and I've recently been trying to think of new names. I'm currently contemplating changing it to 'caffrinc' as in Caffrin C due to the fact that is my twitter and instagram name, so I think it would just flow better and obviously being basically my name, it's more personal. However I'm still unsure and your opinions would be helpful!
Do you think its current name is too long? What do you think of 'Caffrinc'?

Sleek Face Contour Kit Review

I had planned to do an OOTD post, but then when I saw the dreadful weather this morning, I had to change my outfit and it wasn't blog-post worthy! Therefore, I thought I would finally review an relatively new addition to my make-up routine that I couldn't be without now. The Sleek Contour Kit. Before this, I was using MUA bronzer for my contouring, but I got the Sleek kit for Christmas and it is definitely an improvement.

I have pretty pale skin, so I got the light shade and it works really well with my skin. With bronzers I have found they end up going patchy throughout the day, but this lasts all day looking smooth and matte. It's a great colour for contouring on my skin, not orangey like other products I've tried have been. I particularly like the highlighter and use it on my cheekbones and on my nose. At £6.49 I would have no reason not to repurchase this item and it has led me to want to try other Sleek products.

What do you think of the contour kit? Do you have any favourite products from Sleek to recommend?
