Eighteen Facts About Me

Jumping on the bandwagon!

1. I'm a hoarder, but very organised. If things aren't in the place they should be it stresses me out a lot, which isn't helped when I have so much stuff.

2.  I don't believe I'm really brilliant at anything; I'm just average at most things.
Most people tend to be either creative or logical thinking; I'm a bit of both. My best subjects are school were art and maths.

3. I have a little obsession with Alice in Wonderland, although I don’t like the Disney version of the film. I believe I have Alice in Wonderland Syndrome as well, which is not very commonly known about and although I'm not diagnosed with it, because I've never bothered to do anything about it, I have all the symptoms.

4. I got braces just after my 18th birthday. I wish I had been able to have them earlier and not be an adult with them, but my previous dentist was useless. They will hopefully be off this December or next June. I don’t mind having them, because I know how much of a difference they’ll make to my teeth and affect my confidence, but for now they make me look very young and I’m even more self-conscious because of them.

5. I’m a bit of a hypochondriac. I always believe there is something wrong with me, but I rarely bother going to the doctors, I just wait for whatever I think I have to ‘pass’, until I ‘get’ something else.

6. I constantly check if I have my phone and keys on me and if they aren’t where they should be I stress out a lot until I find them. Whenever I make a deal of it, my friends tell me that I haven’t lost them and that they’re still in my bag, so far 100% of the time they have been right.

7. I go through stages of being obsessed with one band and they will be all I listen to for from a week up to a few months. At the moment, it’s still Frightened Rabbit.

8. I sleep like ‘Snow White’. I rarely move in my sleep, something which my friends who I've shared a bed with have noticed and find really strange.

9. I could drink tea constantly. I've been drinking it since a very young age; I think I was 3 or 4 and drink at least five cups a day usually.

10. I've recently decided to become vegetarian. It’s taking some getting used to and my family still haven’t realised I'm being serious yet. I think this year I've eaten meat twice, both while being drunk and forgetting,

but I'm more determined now.

11.  If I wasn't called Catherine, I would have been called Sinead or Mairead. My parents were intent on my having an Irish name, even though none of my siblings do.

12. My only real fears are falling over, which is such a silly one and heights; to the point I feel very uncomfortable even standing on a chair.

13. I was an Irish dancer from the ages 4-10. I travelled all around the country competing and even went to the World Championships in Belfast and danced with my team, we won!

14. I think the only colour hair I haven’t had is green.

15. Although I want to be a fashion journalist, another career dream of mine is to own my own cupcake/tea shop.

16. I've recently started reading again and have fallen in love with John Green as a writer.

17. I love piercings. I currently have ten and have had seven others in the past.
I kind of have an ongoing project with ear piercings and I plan on getting at least one more this year.

18.  It's cliché, but I really want to travel. Outside of the UK I have only been to Ireland, Belgium and Barcelona, so over the next ten years I want to travel as much as I can.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner

I had a sample packet of Aussie 3 Minute Miracle condition, which I was waiting to use until I felt I needed it. Well today was that day. After dying my hair nearly a week ago and the fact I have to wash my hair almost everyday, therefore drying it everyday, my hair needed some help.
I've always been impressed by Aussie products and this is no different. My hair feels in better condition after just one use. Safe to say I will be investing in a bottle of this very soon and at £4.99 (Superdrug pricing) it is more than worth the price!

Superdrug Semi-Permanent Hair Dye

So, as usual after getting my hair close to its natural colour, I got bored and decided I needed a change.
Red is a colour I've been in the past and many different shades of it, so my decision of what colour was easy. I loved having red hair and it has been two years since I've had it, until now.

I went into Superdrug with the intention of buying L'Oreal casting crème gloss,  but I saw Superdrug's own brand hair dye in pretty much the same colour I was after, but for a fraction of the price. Being a student, I have to watch my money so instead of £13 for L'Oreal, I paid just £5 for Superdrugs. Bare in mind I had to buy two boxes due to the length of my hair. 2 boxes for £5 is a steal!

The colour I went for was 'Black Cherry', a subtle dark red.

The instructions were simple and easy to follow, if you've dyed your hair before they're just the same as pretty much any other brand.

During the dying process, looking lovely and orange.
This is the final result! Straight after I dyed it, I felt it was too dark, however after another wash it lightened and I'm happy with it now! There was no itching or burning during the dying process, although I didn't, I would recommend doing a strand test to check for any allergies to the ingredients.
The dye claims to last for up to 28 washes, which means four weeks for me considering I wash my hair pretty much everyday.
I'm glad I went for semi-permanent, my hair feels so much better than it does after dying it with permanent and I'm able to return to my natural colour without the annoying growing out stage.
I'd recommend this product to anyone wanting to dye their hair: It's cheap and good quality. I cannot see any difference in quality compared to more expensive brands.

Week In Pictures #3: Time to get back on track.

This was my last week before lectures start. Boo! I spent it chilling out really and trying to save some money! I found out the marks of two units of work I did last term and I passed both, so I'm pretty chuffed about that. Now to back get into the mind set of doing work.
1. FOTD. 2. Baking for my flatmates. 3. OOTD.
 4. LDR 5. Dinner made by my flatmate. 6. Drawing during the night.
7.  FOTD. 8. OOTD.  9.  Breakfast at 7pm.
10. Cocktails. 11. John Green Appreciation. 12. My one true love.
 13. Snow day. 14. How I spent most days. 15. Red head once more.

Snow in Southampton

I have to admit, I am one of those people who are grumpy about snow and who will do what they can to avoid it. I just don't know why you'd want to be colder than you need to be! I'd much rather sit in a warm house with a cup of tea, than be out in the freezing cold with purple hands.

So of course to my delight, it snowed in Southampton this morning. I'm sure it's no where near as bad here compared to other places in the country, so I'm pretty happy about that. I just hope it all clears up before next week! I did venture out earlier to pick up a few things to see me through today though!
So being anti-snow, with uni cancelled, while my friends are out in the park playing football (I don't understand why!) I'm spending my day inside, drinking tea with company magazine chocolate and sweets.
I'm pretty content with it as well.

Hope everyone else got a nice day off!

e.l.f Studio Kabuki Brush Review

I have been meaning to write up a review about this for a while now, after I got it for Christmas.
This is the Studio Kabuki Brush from e.l.f.
On the website it says that it can be used to apply powder, bronzer or highlighter  I personally only use it to apply pressed power as I already have an elf bronzer brush. I have to say, I fell in love with this brush after first use. I was previously using a cheap face brush that I picked up from a chemist and it's safe to say the Kabuki brush is definitely an improvement. It's extremely soft on your skin, so far I've had no fall out of the bristles and it always helps give my skin a flawless finish. For just £6, it's great value for money and I'd recommend this product to every make-up wearer.

Have you tried any e.l.f brushes? What ones would you recommend?

The champagne is on ice for you and I

Today is yet another day in which I didn't sleep the night before, but at least that gave me time to get ready and choose an outfit I like without a rush. I still don't have to leave for another two and a half hours!
Today, I'm going into University to get my results for two of my three units from last term (third result will be found out on Friday), to say I'm nervous is an understatement. Between finding out my two results, I'm going to pay the rest of the deposit on the house I'll be rent for year two of Uni. It will break my heart to handover the money, but I'm so excited to have my own house!
I apologise for the bad quality of the photos, but my camera wasn't charged so I had to use my phone camera and even then it was the front screen camera, so even less megapixels!
Shirt - Missguided / Skirt - Miss Selfridge
I'm also wearing cherry red doc martens, but I couldn't get a good picture of them.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Week In Pictures #2: Sleepless nights

My first week back in Southampton and I didn't even have to be in Uni once, so I could have stayed at home for an extra week. Boo. Nevertheless, it's been nice to see everyone back here!
My week has been extremely unproductive. I'm currently in a cycle of sleeping through the day and being awake all night, as I write this it's 8:35am and I haven't slept yet.
1. Stretched my ear to 12mm. 2. Essential purchases of course. 3. Lazy OOTD.
 4. First night out back in Soton! 5. Non-fashion related subject reading.  6. Curling my hair at 2am.
 7. Tea, Toast and Vogue. 8. OOTD. 9. Necessities while ill.

I'm a mess, I confess

For the first time in weeks I was up and ready early enough to be out in daylight! It was just a case of popping into town to do a very small amount of shopping though. The dress I'm wearing was one I got for Christmas and I love that I'm able to wear it casually, because it's such a lovely dress. My outfit was very simple today, partly because I was in a bad mood getting ready this morning...might be something to do with only three hours sleep.
Dress - Izabel London / Necklace - Primark
Doc Martens - Schuh / Bag - eBay

My bag is on the way out, any recommendations as to where to get a new one?

In love with fashion

When I saw were offering three items for just £30, how could I resist?
I've always wanted to buy something from inlovewithfashion and this was the perfect excuse, especially as my student loan has just come in.

Two LOVE items and one Lou-Lou, I cannot wait to wear these out! I've been dying to buy some more 'dressy' clothes, because I always feel so casual when I go on a night out.
All the items seem true to size, although I'm a bit weary of wearing the crop top, because it is very short at the front, so I think high-waisted shorts are a must with it, but I could resist the sequins. Teal isn't usually a colour I wear, but I liked the studded and cut out shoulders of the top and the dress is just a simple black dress with a lace waist band.

Have you ever bought anything from inlovewithfashion? What did you think?

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation ranges from £5.99 - £8.99, depending on where it's bought and if you're lucky enough to pick it up when it's on special offer.

I would more than happily pay the higher amount of £8.99 for this foundation. I was previously using Rimmel Lasting finish foundation, but I found that the coverage wasn't good enough and it could look quite greasy on the skin. This foundation is the opposite. Just a small amount will cover my whole face and unlike so many other liquid foundations I've used in the past, it doesn't leave that greasy shine. I have quite pale skin and the Ivory shade matches my skin colour perfectly, which is really lucky considering I didn't check the different shades beforehand. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product. I literally love it.

Pretty Please #1

I'm in need of some new jeans, so I went on a search for some and came across all these other things I would love to own as well. With my student loan coming tomorrow, I may have to force myself to resist and maybe just buy one or two things.

Week In Pictures #1: Take of your colours

Restarting my WIP count, considering it's a new year!

1. Favourite. 2. New Make. 3. New Year Outfit Take 1

 4. New Year 2. 5. 10mm tunnel. 6. Favourite Film

7. Loved this! 8. OOTD 9. Packing for uni.

 10. Hate alarms 11. To Southampton! 12. Shutter Island.

Hope everyone has enjoyed their first week of 2013!

Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch 2

I was in dire need of a new concealer a few weeks ago and luckily enough, I got this as part of my 'Christmas Stocking. It's Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch in Natural 2. Before this I was using Rimmel Hide the Blemish, but it was far too cakey for my skin.

This concealer is a liquid formula and covers up blemishes and dark circles a treat. I particularly like the click style of the pen as it helps me not use too much and waste any, which is great as you don't need much for good coverage anyway. At £4.99 in Superdrug, it's great value for money and it can be used as a highlighters as well as concealer. Safe to say I'm impressed and I'll definitely be re-buying this.

Have you tried this? What did you think of it?

Looking for Alaska by John Green

I'm not a great reader of books, I tend to stick to reading Vogue or Elle, but I can say I've said all the Harry Potter books and a mass of Jacqueline Wilson ones, although that was when I was much younger.
My sister recently purchased 'Looking for Alaska' by John Green. I know of John Green via his YouTube channel 'vlogbrothers', which I religiously watch every week, but I'd never bothered to read any of his books. Anyway, long story short, I wanted too and I borrowed Looking for Alaska from my sister to read on my upcoming train journey back to Birmingham. Last night I was bored beyond belief and decided to start reading it then. I hadn't planned to, but I ended up staying up until 5am reading the whole thing, I couldn't put it down.

I'm not going to say anything of the story as I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet, but I seriously recommend this book. I don't think I've ever read a whole book in one sitting, but I loved this.
The story isn't what you'd expect and I have to say, I ended up pretty heart broken at one point. I love the way in which it is written and the story in general and once my loan comes in, I'll be buying more of his work.

Have you read this? What did you think of it?

New Years Outfit

Last night, I was stressing about what I was going to wear. I'd ordered this beautiful dress from ASOS, but it hadn't been delivered, so I'd sorted out another outfit. An hour before I was due to leave, my dress was delivered! I was tempted to buy the dress in black, but I forced myself to go for a colour I wouldn't usually wear. I adore the colour and received a few compliments last night on it.
Dress - ASOS / Shoes - Daisystreet

I hope everyone had a great new years eve and will have a great year!
